It seems like the entire cast of Dancing with the Stars has weddings to plan and first dances to coordinate! Yet another professional dancer from the hit show is engaged, joining the ranks of other to-be-wed castmates, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta Murgatroyd, and Julianne Hough. Mark Ballas, a two-time winner ofDWTS, popped the question to his longtime love, BC Jean. But get this — the couple has been engaged since before Thanksgiving!
With a new slew of engagement ring selfies taking over our newsfeed everyday, it's always a bit of a shocker when a couple keeps their newly engaged status under wraps. "I honestly can't believe we kept it quiet for this long," Ballas wrote on Instagram earlier this week, as he let the nuptial news out of the bag. "We kept it on the quiet for a while as we just wanted to soak it in over the holidays, but we are excited to share the news with you all now."
Ballas — who is also in the too-cool band, Alexander Jean, with his fiancée — actually popped the questionway back in November, on the day before thanksgiving. And, according to Access Hollywood, took a cue from one of their original songs "Roses and Violets" to create the super sweet proposal.
"The day before the proposal, I had the house literally turned into Woodstock," Ballas revealed, lining their driveway with roses and violets and draping the interior with vintage rugs and band posters.
But even pirouetting in front of a live audience week after week couldn't prepare Ballas for those pre-proposal jitters! "When she got in there, I froze," remembers Ballas. "My heart was pounding. I was cool as a cucumber all day. I've been on stages my whole life, and when she walked in the room I thought, 'Whoa, here we go.'"
After Ballas dropped to one knee and popped the question, the perfect pair's family and friends jumped out of their hiding spots to congratulate the newly engaged couple. "It was absolutely perfect." said Ballas. So sweet!
The DWTS pro continued his social media announcement, saying "I can't wait to listen to Nirvana, Janis Joplin & Coldplay together when we are old and grey." And we can't wait to see these two cut it on the wedding reception dance floor! How does Janis Joplin's "To Love Somebody" sound for a first dance song, you guys?
